Two extraordinary songwriters from outside the Traverse City region will perform at The Alluvion for a very a special, intimate evening which will showcase both artists performing separate, solo sets. Cameron will be playing our beautiful grand piano. Both of these artists have a long list of inspiring accolades, this show is not to be missed!
The Widow Cameron is the new project and seventh album from long-time Chicago poet and songwriter Cameron McGill and his first since 2013’s Gallows Etiquette. Produced by Daniel Johnson (Judah Johnson/Patois) and engineered by Neil Strauch (Iron & Wine, Bonnie Prince Billy, Andrew Bird, Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s), the album was recorded at Chicago’s Shirk Studios and features bassist Rodrigo Palma and drummer Charles Koltak. McGill is the author of two poetry collections: Meridians (Willow Springs Books) and In the Night Field (Augury Books/Brooklyn Arts Press). He teaches creative writing in the Western Colorado University MFA and at Washington State University, where he co-directs the Visiting Writers Series. He lives, writes, and plays the piano in Moscow, Idaho.
Tim Jones is a powerhouse vocalist and “Chauffeur of Soul” who has contributed to hundreds of records including collaborations with Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes, Carl Broemel of My Morning Jacket, the Hotel Cafe Tour, and co-produced his projects Truth & Salvage Co. and Whiskey Wolves of the West, as well as written songs for Shelly Fairchild, Jaime McLean, Tony Lucca, Szlachetka, Emily West and Nicki Bluhm. He has also led songwriting workshops with Art of Elysium, Country Music Hall of Fame, Alive Hospice, Kilpatrick, Townsend & Stockton, Interlochen Center for the Arts, CreatiVets and Stories That Heal with Molly Sturges.
