March Madness
Andrew Dost, Katie Shulman, Tryst Red & GoodMetacn
On view March 21-May 4 on the first and second floors of Commongrounds
Alluvion Arts at 414 presents the work of Katie Shulman, Tryst Red, Andrew Dost and GoodMetacn in a conceptual exhibition reflecting on the madness of March. Artists combine their perceptions of identity, place and isolation through self-portraits, soft sculptures, obscure hoops and abstract paintings.
Join us for the opening reception on March 21st from 5-8 pm. Dress to play, shoot some hoops, meet the players/artists and enjoy jock jams, food and drinks. Player announcements and tournament play starts at 6 pm.
This exhibition leans into both/and reasoning to explore seemingly unrelated concepts, to interpret how deeply intertwined our expression actually can be. Comparing the manipulation of the body in both athletes and mothers. Processing both isolation and skin to skin contact. Reflecting on both fantasy and cold hard reality. Questioning both nomads and homebodies. In the center of it all is the idea of madness. Madness as it relates to cabin fever this time of the year, as it relates to becoming or not becoming a mother, madness as it relates to the very idea of time and place.
