BIMBO - heavy art rock duo with very few musical rules from Marquette
Trash Can Symphony - math rock from Traverse City
HAIL YOUR HIGHNESS:
Two sisters from Michigan, who play dreamy emotional music that swirls together aspects of genres ranging from hard rock to shoegaze to trap.
BIMBO:
Brother & sister play art rock as: BIMBO
Former members of the futuristic, modern soul hip hop group: Blanco Suave, The McKenzies' diverse musical experiences and love for multiple genres have led them to embrace art rock’s freedom and fluidity. "It’s a little experimental, pretty progressive rock, a little mathy at times," Gretchen described. "With just the two of us, we have very few musical rules. There are no wrong notes, so we’re very free."
Marquette’s vibrant music scene has given rise to countless creative acts, but few are as refreshingly distinct as BIMBO, the art-rock duo formed by siblings Gretchen and Dawson McKenzie. Together, they bring their unique brand of experimental rock and improvisation to the forefront with their debut EP, BIMBOLOGY. In an interview with Kurt Hauswirth, the McKenzies revealed the story behind their duo and their inventive musical journey.
TRASH CAN SYMPHONY:
Born in the fall of 2020 in Traverse City, Trash Can Symphony is a solo project of Brian Chamberlain that blends together dirty funk, hip hop and math rock elements by means of Rhodes electric piano, drums, bass and vocals.
