Transformational: Stories of Northern Michigan Arts & Culture Book Launch

Come discover a new anthology of poetry, essays, & creative nonfiction that celebrate the transformational impact of the arts and our northern spaces. This launch event will feature readings by 12 of the anthology’s 36 writers, along with music, signings, refreshments, and camaraderie. Books will be available to purchase at the launch, or can be found through partner organizations and area booksellers.

Published by Michigan Writers, Transformational: Stories of NoMI Arts & Culture shares the words, work and transformational moments of artists and culture bearers who weave our region’s creative tapestry. Their stories are a personal testament to the power of the arts and place. The publication features works of poetry, essays and creative nonfiction by 36 writers.

Transformational is a part of a Community Partners project between Northwest Michigan Arts & Culture Network, Michigan Writers and Interlochen Public Radio. It uses storytelling – in various mediums - to explore the role creativity, arts and culture play in furthering our communities and our lives, and how our unique, scenic corner of Northern Michigan has infused and informed the works – literary, visual, performance, cultural - created here. IPR’s Fresh Coast Creatives series is also part of the Transformational project. Later this fall, IPR will be broadcasting a radio feature on the project with readings and author discussions.
