The Alluvion welcomes sitar/guitar maestro Will Marsh back to his hometown, and to our stage for an incredibly unique and alluring music experience with special guest musicians. This will be a deep journey that brings together a world of influences with original compositions for sitar, guitar, cello, tabla, saxophone, and more.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
WILL MARSH
Will Marsh brings refined melody, imagination and devotion to all facets of his music. He has been performing around the world on sitar and guitar for over two decades. Will has worked with Grammy-winning musicians and producers and has been featured on national T.V. From his roots as a guitarist from Traverse City, Michigan to performing Hindustani sitar in Kolkata,
Will’s musical journey has been rich and diverse. He believes passionately that music is essential to all of humanity. He holds his MFA in World Music Performance from the California Institute of the Arts and has studied with some of the world’s greatest musicians including Ustad Aashish Khan (eldest son of Ali Akbar Khan), Roshan Bhartiya, Tushar Bhatia and Shakir Khan. His latest release "The Integration" brings together a world of influences with original compositions for sitar, guitar, cello, tabla, saxophone and more.
Currently, Will resides in the California Bay Area as an active teacher, performer and recording artist.

JOSH MELLINGER - TABLA
Josh Mellinger is a multi-instrumental percussionist from Traverse City, Michigan, now based in the Bay Area of California. He graduated in Percussion Performance BFA at CalArts under the guidance of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, Randy Gloss, Houman Pourmehdi and David Johnson. He is a currently a student at the Ali Akbar College of Music, continuing Tabla studies with Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. He has performed and recorded with many groups in the US and internationally. He has done several theatrical productions including a world premier of the award winning musical “Lovesick”, and performances in Vietnam with Van-Anh-Vo and the Blood moon orchestra as part of the United States Embassy’s Cultural exchange program.
CRISPIN CAMPBELL - CELLO
Crispin Campbell's musical style reflects his individuality. In a typical performance he makes seamless transitions from Bach cello suites and Beethoven sonatas to Sun Ra and Django Reinhardt, earning him the label: "A musician who defies categories."
In June 2018 Crispin left his position at Interlochen Arts Academy after 38 years in order to pursue his diverse musical interests more fully. His list of former students includes professionals in orchestras, chamber groups and conservatories worldwide, such as the Kronos and Telegraph Quartets, the Seattle, Atlanta, Dallas, San Antonio, Grand Rapids, Winnipeg (Canada), Valencia (Spain) and Bergen (Norway)symphonies, the Cleveland Institute of Music and Grand Valley State University, among others.
A native Californian, he resides in Traverse City, Michigan. Crispin teaches at the Interlochen Cello Institute (June), and appears at the CLAZZ Music Festival in Arcidosso, Italy (July-August), exploring the connections between classical string playing and jazz. Recent appearances include the complete Brandenburg Concertos of J.S. Bach in Traverse City, playing in a string section for the 50th anniversary concerts of the funk band Tower of Power in Oakland, California, and performing and teaching at the Semana de las Cuerdas in Medellin, Colombia.
His first solo cello recording with a jazz trio "About Time", and a collection of improvisations with Michigan poet Michael Delp, "The River Under the River" were released in 2020.
PATRICK BOOTH - SAXOPHONE
Patrick Booth is a saxophonist, composer, and educator based in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. A dynamic performer in both creative and classical settings, he holds degrees in saxophone and education from Central Michigan University, as well as a graduate degree in Improvisation from the University of Michigan. He has most recently been a featured performer and teacher with Wadada Leo Smith and David Liebman, as well as leading his own ensembles based all over the Midwest and East Coast of the USA. He has performed/recorded with Geri Allen, Wadada Leo Smith, David Liebman, Ingrid Laubrock, Tom “Bones” Malone, Wayne Kramer of the MC5, Douglas Ewart, Karl Berger, Adam Nussbaum, Terri Lynn Carrington, Jeff "Tayne" Watts and many more.
Patrick is committed to new music as well as environmentally/ethically inspired music to help inspire change, equity, and inclusion. He has been featured on countless recordings, ranging from contemporary classical to electronic. His most recent release is Golden Roads, in collaboration with activist and musical spirit Seth Bernard. A firm and ardent supporter of the work being done by Title Track Michigan, a group created to help cultivate environmental equity, racial equity, and youth empowerment.
Patrick can be seen performing in many different ensembles around the country including Wadada Leo Smith’s Thunder Ensemble (NYC), Sonic Perfume (Toronto), HEAVY COLOR (Toledo), Gumshoe (Washington DC), straightHORN (Washington DC) Jon Crompton’s saxophone works (NYC), Seth Bernard (Michigan), Public Access (Grand Rapids), Brad Fritcher’s MOODS (Grand Rapids), the Estar Cohen Project (Ann Arbor), Chris Bathgate (Ann Arbor) and many more. Patrick Is a member, creator, and cultivator for Earthwork Music. Patrick is a proud endorser of Conn-Selmer saxophones, and Cusack Music Electronics, and REMIC microphone systems.
